Starting July 11, Akasa Air will commence daily direct flights between Mumbai and Abu Dhabi, marking its fourth international destination. This new route aims to cater to the growing travel demand between India and the UAE.
Neelu Khatri, Co-Founder and SVP International at Akasa Air, expressed excitement over the new addition, highlighting Abu Dhabi as a prime destination for Indian travelers. “Abu Dhabi has emerged as a destination of choice for Indian leisure and business travelers, and the demand for air travel between the two countries continues to flourish. The Abu Dhabi Government’s Tourism Strategy 2030 will further encourage tourism between India and UAE in the coming years,” she said.
Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the strategic importance of this new route. “We are excited to expand our global footprint with the addition of Abu Dhabi. Our strategically designed network connecting Abu Dhabi with Mumbai with daily direct flights will cater to a wide range of Indian travelers, and enhanced connectivity will drive inbound leisure and business travel.”
Bookings for the new route are now available on Akasa Air’s website, mobile apps, and leading online travel agencies (OTAs). This move follows Akasa Air’s recent expansion into the Gulf region, with the airline having launched its international operations with flights to Doha, Qatar, on March 28, 2024, followed by Jeddah and Riyadh in May and June 2024, respectively.
The addition of Abu Dhabi to Akasa Air’s network not only strengthens the airline’s presence in the Gulf region but also supports Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Strategy 2030, which aims to attract 39.3 million visitors by 2030.
