Australia has launched the Maitri Research and Cultural Partnerships Grants to enhance collaboration with India. These grants support sustainable manufacturing, energy transition research, and artistic projects, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties through human connections.

The initiative includes projects such as sustainable manufacturing of Australian technology in India, workshops linking Australian energy researchers with Indian start-ups, and transforming Melbourne’s Federation Square into a living canvas. The grants, managed by the Centre for Australia-India Relations, seek to deepen collaboration and foster closer links between the two nations.

Five Maitri Research Grants will explore opportunities in agribusiness, critical technology, energy transition, and advanced manufacturing. The goal is to leverage the economic transformations in India to benefit Australian businesses and enhance innovation.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong praised the initiatives, emphasizing the importance of human connections in strengthening Australia-India relations. She expressed her excitement about the potential of these projects to foster deeper links between the countries. Tim Thomas, CEO of the Centre for Australia-India Relations, commended the Maitri Cultural Partnerships for supporting innovative collaboration and noted that these grants would help Australian businesses harness opportunities created by India’s economic transformation.
