Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met with Italian Deputy PM Antonio Tajani during the G7 Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Italy. They discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation in investments, start-ups, and energy. Goyal congratulated Tajani for hosting the G7 Trade Ministers’ meeting.
Minister Goyal attended the outreach session of the G7 Trade Ministers’ Meeting on July 16-17 in Italy. This visit aimed to highlight India’s trade and investment opportunities. On social media, Goyal expressed pleasure in meeting Tajani and discussed strengthening bilateral trade, especially in investments and energy.
Goyal also met with the UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade to discuss deepening economic relations. India and the UK are negotiating a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to boost trade. Goyal emphasized that both countries are working towards a mutually beneficial agreement.
In another meeting, Goyal spoke with Robert Habeck, the German Minister for Economic Affairs & Climate Action. They explored opportunities to enhance Indo-German trade and economic partnerships ahead of the Inter-Governmental Consultations and the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Businesses in Delhi.
Before his visit to Italy, Goyal was in Switzerland on July 14-15 for business meetings. He focused on the implementation of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) and aimed to reach the target of USD 100 billion in investment and one million jobs in India by EFTA countries over the next 15 years.
