India’s online visa portal now accepts applications from Chinese nationals for e-business visas, streamlining the approval process for those involved in projects under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme. This new feature is expected to facilitate faster approvals and encourage business collaborations between India and China.
Government sources confirmed that China has been added to the drop-down menu on the online visa application portal. This update allows Chinese and other foreign nationals to apply for e-business visas specifically for PLI projects. An officer mentioned, “The existing visa portal has added China to the drop-down menu to enable Chinese and other foreign nationals to apply for e-business visas for PLI projects.”
E-business visas offer multiple entries and are valid for 365 days, with a processing time of just 72 hours. During each visit, the continuous stay should not exceed 180 days. This fast-track visa option is expected to enhance business operations and project execution for Chinese nationals in India.
The move is seen as a strategic step to bolster economic ties and facilitate smoother business interactions between the two nations. By providing a more efficient visa process, India aims to attract more business professionals and investments from China, particularly in sectors covered by the PLI scheme.
