As the Paris Olympics 2024 draws near, India is sending a contingent of 117 athletes. However, several notable athletes of Indian origin will also compete, representing their adopted nations. Here’s a look at five such individuals who will be flying different flags in the upcoming Games.

Rajeev Ram, a prominent tennis doubles player, will represent the USA. Born in Denver to Indian immigrants from Bangalore, Ram has made a name for himself in tennis. Despite his academic roots, he chose sports and has secured five Grand Slam titles. He will compete in men’s doubles at Paris 2024.

Prithika Pavade, representing France in table tennis, has Indian roots from Puducherry. Born in Paris, Pavade was introduced to the sport by her father and made her Olympic debut in Tokyo at just 16. Now 19, she will compete in women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.

Kanak Jha, a table tennis star from the USA with Indian heritage, will showcase his skills in Paris. With a strong background from his family and impressive achievements, including being the youngest athlete for the USA in 2016, Jha will compete in men’s singles.

Shanti Pereira, Singapore’s renowned sprinter with roots in Kerala, will represent Singapore. After ending a long medal drought at the Asian Games, she is set to compete in the women’s 100m race. Pereira will also be a flag-bearer at the opening ceremony.

Amar Dhesi, a Canadian wrestler with Punjabi origins, will vie for gold in men’s 125kg freestyle. Born in Canada to a wrestling-enthusiast father from Punjab, Dhesi has already secured several prestigious titles and will be a strong contender in Paris.
