Learn all about the 2024 Know India Program for Young PIOs in India

In a bid to strengthen the ties between the Indian diaspora youth and their ancestral homeland, the Ministry of External Affairs introduces the 75th edition of the Know India Programme (KIP). This three-week immersive experience, slated from July 7th to July 27th, 2024, aims to deepen participants’ understanding of India’s rich tapestry of history, culture, and contemporary advancements.

Open to individuals of Indian origin aged 21 to 35, with a spotlight on youth from Girmitiya countries, the KIP offers a unique opportunity to engage with India’s diverse facets. Through a carefully curated itinerary, participants delve into the realms of economy, industry, education, science, technology, telecommunications, information technology, and space science, among others.

At the heart of the programme lie Learning Tours, where participants embark on enlightening journeys to various public and private sector institutions. These excursions facilitate invaluable interactions with professionals, fostering insightful discussions and deepening comprehension of India’s progress across sectors.

Over the past two decades, the KIP has welcomed 2513 participants from 53 countries, with notable representation from diaspora communities in South Africa, Fiji, Mauritius, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Suriname, Myanmar, Australia, Israel, France, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia, Reunion Island, Sri Lanka, Canada, United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

Among the programme’s highlights are visits to historical and cultural landmarks, immersion in yoga, Ayurveda, and classical arts, and encounters with key institutions of democracy and governance, including the Parliament of India and the Election Commission of India. Moreover, participants gain insights into India’s flagship initiatives such as Digital India, StartUp India, and Make in India, alongside visits to industrial sites showcasing the nation’s prowess in manufacturing and service sectors.
