Malaysia Airlines has announced a significant increase in its flight frequency to Amritsar, elevating the number of services from four weekly flights to daily operations, starting August 1. This move enhances international connectivity for Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport and offers improved travel options between Amritsar and various Southeast Asian destinations such as Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and Vietnam through Kuala Lumpur.
Sameep Singh Gumtala, Global Convener of the FlyAmritsar Initiative, and Yogesh Kamra, Convener for India, have praised the airline’s decision. They noted that the additional daily flights, combined with existing services from Air Asia X and Batik Air, significantly increase seat availability. The total of 28 weekly flights will better serve not only passengers from Punjab but also travelers from nearby states like Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, and Haryana.
The increased flight frequency is expected to facilitate easier travel and enhance connectivity for both business and leisure travelers. By expanding its service to a daily schedule, Malaysia Airlines aims to meet the growing demand and provide more flexible travel options for those connecting through Kuala Lumpur.
