Micromax Informatics, a leading Indian mobile phone brand, has joined hands with Phison Electronics, a Taiwanese NAND storage chip maker, to create a joint venture aimed at developing cutting-edge storage products. This collaboration, called MiPhi, will focus on producing high-end storage solutions like Solid State Drives (SSDs) for industries such as automotive, AI, and enterprise sectors.

Joint Venture Details: The joint venture, with a 55:45 split between Micromax and Phison, will operate from Micromax’s Greater Noida facility. The companies plan to combine Phison’s technological expertise in NAND storage with Micromax’s deep understanding of the Indian market. Their goal is to offer affordable and powerful storage solutions for a wide range of industries, including data centers, IT hubs, IoT, mobile devices, and automotive applications.

Key Objectives of MiPhi: One of the primary objectives of MiPhi is to drive down the costs of GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) by up to 90%. By reducing the per-token cost for AI models, MiPhi hopes to disrupt the AI landscape in India and other targeted markets. The joint venture will also specialize in customized NAND storage solutions, catering specifically to AI and security applications.

MiPhi aims to leverage its Indian market knowledge and Phison’s advanced technology to provide tailored solutions that meet the growing demands of the AI, automotive, and enterprise sectors. This collaboration is expected to help businesses reduce AI training costs and improve the efficiency of their data storage systems.
