PBD 2025: A Golden Opportunity for the Indian Diaspora to Contribute to the Motherland

The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) 2025, set to take place in Odisha from January 8 to 10, offers an exciting opportunity for over 3,000 members of the Indian diaspora to contribute to India’s growth. This year’s theme, “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat” (Developed India), emphasizes the vital role of the overseas Indian community in shaping India’s future. Beyond reconnecting with their roots, participants will explore opportunities to invest in India’s thriving economy, spanning sectors like business, trade, healthcare, and technology.

India has the second-largest diaspora globally, estimated at 36 million people, who collectively sent $120 billion in remittances in 2023. This amount is expected to increase to $129 billion by 2025, highlighting the immense contribution of NRIs and PIOs to India’s economic growth. The PBD offers a platform for the diaspora to share their success stories, discuss challenges they face, and actively engage with their homeland.

This year’s event is significant not only for connecting generations of overseas Indians but also for addressing key concerns, such as investment security in India. As the global community celebrates the achievements of individuals like Rishi Sunak and Kamala Harris, PBD 2025 promises to be a milestone in strengthening the relationship between India and its diaspora, paving the way for new opportunities, innovations, and partnerships.

The event will feature speeches from the Indian Prime Minister and President, who will confer the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions by overseas Indians. The Guest of Honour will be Christine Carla Kangaloo, President of Trinidad and Tobago.

With an engaging mix of cultural events, discussions, and networking opportunities, PBD 2025 offers an exciting opportunity for the Indian diaspora to not only invest in India but also to “give back” by offering their expertise to support the country’s vision of becoming a developed nation.
