Exclusive Interview: Piyush Soni’s Journey Back to Music
In an exclusive interview with Amit Gupta, Chief Editor of Indian.Community, Piyush Soni opened up about his hiatus from music and his transformative journey over the last two decades.
“I have been underground since 1997, after my hit ‘Chokra’ in 1995,” Piyush revealed. “I realized the immense power of music and its impact on people’s lives. But because I had no formal training in music, I decided to step back and learn before creating more music. Now, after 20 years of mastering my craft, I feel ready for the challenge.”
During this time, Piyush dedicated himself to mastering every aspect of music production and performance:
- Full studio productions for audio and video
- Mastering and arranging music
- Sound engineering expertise
- Proficiency in audio production software
- Mastery of vocal styles, including village Sufi vocals and Western singing techniques
- Writing scripts and storylines for songs
- Full video editing, including camera work, effects, and post-production
- Composing music using both Indian and Western techniques
- International sound design for global releases
“All my music—audio, video, lyrics, vocals, composing, instruments, and studio mastering—is done entirely by me,” he emphasized. “My goal is to present our culture and its diverse music styles alongside Western influences on a global platform.”
