Saif Ali Khan Attacked in Robbery Attempt at Mumbai Home

In the early hours of January 16, 2025, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan became the victim of a harrowing incident at his Mumbai residence. The 54-year-old actor, renowned for his roles in films like “Tanu Weds Manu” and “Omkara,” was attacked during an attempted robbery at his Bandra home.

According to reports, Khan was asleep on the 11th floor of his apartment when he was awakened by suspicious noises around 2:30 AM. Upon investigating, he encountered an intruder, leading to a scuffle. During this altercation, the assailant stabbed Khan six times, including a deep wound dangerously close to his spine. The intruder fled the scene, leaving Khan injured.

Khan’s son, Taimur Ali Khan, and their caretaker were present at the time of the incident. Fortunately, they were unharmed. A female employee at the residence was also attacked and is receiving medical attention.

Emergency services were promptly alerted, and Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. Dr. Niraj Uttamani, the hospital’s Chief Operating Officer, confirmed that Khan sustained six injuries, with one being dangerously close to his spine. A foreign object near his spine was identified and removed during surgery. The surgical team, led by neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange and cosmetic surgeon Dr. Leena Jain, successfully operated on Khan. As of now, Khan’s condition is stable, and he is recovering post-surgery.

The Mumbai Police have initiated an investigation into the incident. Preliminary findings suggest that the intruder may have been familiar with the household, as reports indicate that one of the household staff members may have allowed the assailant entry. The police are questioning the staff and reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrator. The incident has raised concerns about security, especially in areas populated by celebrities. Calls for increased policing in such neighborhoods have been voiced by both film industry figures and political leaders.
