Tillotama Shome’s “Shadowbox” to Compete at the Berlin International Film Festival

Indian actress Tillotama Shome’s latest film, Shadowbox (originally titled Baksho Bondi), has been selected for the prestigious 75th Berlin International Film Festival, where it will compete in the coveted Perspectives Competition. This section highlights debut feature films with distinctive narratives and innovative storytelling. Shadowbox will also have its world premiere at the festival, which will run from February 13 to 23, 2025, in Berlin, Germany.

Directed by Tanushree Das and Saumyananda Sahi, Shadowbox is a gripping drama that delves into themes of love, survival, and resilience. Set in a Kolkata suburb, the film follows Maya (Tillotama Shome), a working woman whose life takes an unexpected turn. Her husband, an ex-soldier struggling with PTSD, becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation. As the situation escalates, Maya and her teenage son must navigate extraordinary challenges to keep their family together.

The ensemble cast includes Chandan Bisht, Sayan Karmakar, and Suman Saha, who play crucial roles in this emotionally charged narrative. The film’s co-production involves international collaboration, with contributions from India, France, the United States, and Spain.

Actor and executive producer Jim Sarbh shared his excitement about the film’s selection on social media, expressing his pride in the work. Tillotama Shome also took to Instagram to thank her supporters, celebrating the overwhelming response to the news of Shadowbox’s Berlin debut.
