Triveni Ensemble’s ‘Yatra’ to Support American India Foundation Initiatives

The Triveni Ensemble is set to light up the stage with its spellbinding production Yatra: A Journey Through India on April 19, 2025, at Boston University Dance Theater. More than just a cultural showcase, this performance will raise funds for the American India Foundation (AIF), an organization dedicated to transforming the lives of underprivileged communities across India.

Dancing Through India’s Cultural Soul

Yatra is a celebration of India’s vast artistic legacy, brought to life through the grace and power of three major classical dance forms—Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Odissi. Each piece is rooted in regional traditions and expressed through languages such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Hindi-Urdu, Marathi, Telugu, and Manipravalam, reflecting the country’s immense linguistic and cultural diversity.

Artistic Vision Behind Yatra

Neena Gulati, founder and artistic director of the Triveni School of Dance, envisions Yatra as more than just performance—it’s a passage through time, regions, and philosophies.

“With the ancient reverence of Sanskrit and Tamil, the poetic expression of Hindi-Urdu and Marathi, and the lyrical cadence of Telugu and Manipravalam, Yatra paints a vivid picture of India’s artistic richness,” she shared. “Each composition reflects the unique spirit of its region, woven into a unified tribute to India’s spiritual and cultural heritage.”

An Evening That Gives Back

In partnership with the American India Foundation’s New England chapter, this event is part of a larger mission to create social change. All proceeds will go toward AIF’s work in education, public health, and sustainable livelihoods, especially supporting women, children, and youth in underserved communities.

AIF has already touched over 16 million lives across 35 states and union territories in India—and with community support through events like Yatra, that impact is poised to grow even further.
