The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has temporarily halted operations at the Habshan gas facilities due to falling debris from intercepted missiles. The country condemned Iran for the “terrorist attack” on the gas facility and the Bab field. The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the air defenses successfully intercepted the missiles with no injuries reported.
The Ministry emphasized that these attacks are a dangerous escalation and a violation of international law. It asserted the UAE’s right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, national security, and interests. The Ministry highlighted that such attacks on critical infrastructure pose a direct threat to regional and global energy security.
The UAE had previously warned about the risks associated with targeting energy facilities linked to Iran’s South Pars gas field. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concerns over the potential threats to global energy security and regional stability. It underlined the importance of avoiding targeting critical infrastructure, adhering to international law, and maintaining security and stability in the region.
