A 17-year-old schoolgirl from London, Aanya Goyal, secured a silver medal for Team India at the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI) held in the Netherlands. This achievement marks India’s best performance at the event, with the team also earning two bronze medals and an honorable mention.

Goyal, a student at Alleyn’s School in Dulwich, competed against top coders from 50 countries in this prestigious event focused on computer science. Her problem-solving skills and innovative approach enabled her to excel in the rigorous challenges posed during the competition.

Describing her experience, Goyal mentioned the intense nature of the Olympiad, which consisted of two five-hour sessions with complex algorithmic problems. She praised her teammates and the team’s coaching staff for their support, which she believes was crucial for her success.

Goyal, who has a passion for mathematics and computer science, shared her future plans to study these subjects at university. She expressed a strong desire to contribute to the field of computing and inspire more girls to participate in technology and math competitions.
