The teaser for the much-anticipated film Pune Highway has finally dropped, and it promises an intense psychological thriller packed with tension, secrets, and edge-of-your-seat drama. Set to hit theatres on 16 May 2025, the film brings together a stellar cast, including Amit Sadh, Jim Sarbh, Manjari Fadnnis, Ketaki Narayan, Sudeep Modak, and Anuvab Pal, in what seems to be a story about survival, betrayal, and the fragility of trust under pressure.

A Dark and Suspenseful Setup

The teaser opens with a sense of eerie calm, only to quickly plunge the viewer into a chaotic and claustrophobic setting. A group of friends, trapped in a motel on a seemingly deserted highway between Mumbai and Pune, find themselves in the aftermath of a violent crime. What follows is a rising sense of paranoia and mistrust, as the line between truth and illusion starts to blur.

The use of dim lighting, tense close-ups, and minimal background score creates a suffocating atmosphere that keeps you guessing — and that’s exactly where the teaser hits the mark. There’s an unnerving stillness that suggests something explosive is always around the corner.

Powerhouse Cast, Promising Performances

With Amit Sadh and Jim Sarbh leading the ensemble, Pune Highway already feels like a performance-driven thriller. Sadh’s intense screen presence and Sarbh’s unpredictable aura give the teaser an electric charge. Meanwhile, Manjari Fadnnis and Ketaki Narayan appear in emotionally fraught glimpses, hinting at layered characters who are much more than bystanders.

Even in its brief runtime, the teaser manages to showcase glimpses of conflict, suspicion, and raw human emotion, which suggests the film will explore more than just surface-level thrills.

Direction and Production

Helmed by Bugs Bhargava Krishna and Rahul Da Cunha, the film appears to be a bold attempt to bring theatre-style storytelling into a cinematic thriller format. Interestingly, Pune Highway is based on a play of the same name co-written by Da Cunha, which explains the tight, character-driven tension that runs through the teaser.

Produced by Rahul Da Cunha, Seema Mohapatra, and Jahanara Bhargava, the production seems committed to maintaining a sense of realism and grit rather than opting for over-the-top dramatics.

The Pune Highway teaser leaves you with more questions than answers, but in the best way possible. It’s a psychological road thriller that doesn’t rely on flashy car chases or gunfights—instead, it plays with human psychology, interpersonal tension, and a creeping sense of dread.

If the full film delivers on the promise of this tightly cut teaser, it might just emerge as a surprise hit in 2025’s thriller genre lineup.
