Rohit Shetty is back with a bang! The filmmaker who redefined commercial action cinema in India has officially confirmed that sequels to Simmba and Sooryavanshi are in the works. This exciting update was shared by Shetty himself during a candid conversation on Komal Nahta’s podcast Gamechangers. The announcement not only thrilled fans of his high-octane “cop universe” but also hinted at an even more expansive future for the franchise.

The Cop Universe: From One Film to a Phenomenon

What began in 2011 with Singham has now become one of the most iconic cinematic universes in Indian cinema. With Simmba (2018) and Sooryavanshi (2021), Rohit Shetty successfully brought together powerhouse performers like Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, and Akshay Kumar under one cohesive action-packed narrative arc. Each film, while unique in its storytelling style, fed into a larger vision—one that Shetty admits wasn’t planned from the start.

In his interview, Shetty confessed, “When I made Singham, there was no thought of a ‘cop universe’. That came much later, during the scripting of Simmba. That’s when the idea really began to take shape.” Fast forward to 2025, and that idea has turned into a full-blown cinematic universe—complete with interconnected storylines, recurring characters, and blockbuster cameos.

What’s Next: Simmba 2 and the Evolution of Sooryavanshi

Rohit Shetty confirmed that both Ranveer Singh’s Simmba and Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi will continue their stories in upcoming sequels. “Simmba ka bhi part 2 hoga, Sooryavanshi bhi aage badhegi,” he said, emphasizing that more films and new characters are on their way. He also hinted that fresh faces will be joining the cop universe, suggesting a dynamic evolution in the franchise’s future.

The filmmaker has been consistently praised for creating powerful, mass-appeal cinema while maintaining a strong emotional and patriotic undertone. The sequels are expected to retain this winning formula—combining adrenaline-pumping action with social themes and emotional drama.

“Simmba ka bhi part 2 hoga, Sooryavanshi bhi aage badhegi. Aur bhi log aaenge. Aur bhi filmein banengi cop universe mein. So, that’s why we created that universe.”
— Rohit Shetty on Gamechangers podcast

A Universe Fueled by Real Relationships

One of the reasons Rohit Shetty’s cop universe resonates so well may lie in the personal bonds behind the scenes. He spoke openly about the close relationships he shares with industry stalwarts like Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Karan Johar. “There are 2–3 people I can call even at 2 am—Ajay sir, Ranveer, Deepika. I share a very close bond with them,” Shetty said.

A particularly heartwarming revelation was about Deepika Padukone’s dedication—despite being four months pregnant, she completed her shoot for Singham Again, which speaks volumes about the camaraderie and commitment among the team.

A Glimpse into the Future of Indian Action Cinema

With Singham Again already bringing together an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Akshay Kumar, the excitement for upcoming sequels is at an all-time high. The sheer scale and ambition of this franchise are setting new benchmarks for Indian cinema.

Fans can now look forward to not just one, but two massive sequels with Simmba 2 and the continuation of Sooryavanshi’s saga. With the promise of new characters, unexpected twists, and even more crossovers, the Rohit Shetty Cop Universe is gearing up for a blockbuster future.

Rohit Shetty’s confirmation of Simmba and Sooryavanshi sequels is more than just an announcement—it’s a celebration of Indian mainstream cinema’s ability to create its own Avengers-style universe, rooted in desi swagger and patriotic fervor. The legacy of Singham has now paved the way for a generational franchise, and we can’t wait to see what action-packed chapters unfold next.
