IndiGo, India’s largest airline, will introduce flights to seven new international destinations by March 31, 2025, as announced by CEO Pieter Elbers. This expansion is part of IndiGo’s strategy to grow its global network, celebrating its 18th year of operation.

Currently operating over 2,000 flights daily to approximately 120 destinations, including 33 international cities, IndiGo recently launched flights to Jaffna. With the new additions, IndiGo will serve over 40 international destinations, solidifying its presence in the global aviation market.

IndiGo holds nearly 61% of the domestic market share and has around 975 planes on order. As of June 2024, its fleet included 382 planes, with 18 on wet lease. The airline expects to receive A321 XLR planes in 2025 and wide-body A350 aircraft in 2027, further enhancing its capabilities.

On August 6, 2024, shares of Interglobe Aviation Ltd were trading at ₹4288, a 1.61% increase from the previous close. The stock has gained 69% in the last year and 43% since the beginning of 2024. The company reported a 12% year-on-year decline in net profit at ₹2,729 Crore for the April to June 2024 quarter, with revenue from operations rising 17% to ₹19,571 Crore.

IndiGo also launched ‘IndiGo Stretch’ business class on 12 routes, with bookings starting on August 6 for travel beginning November 14. The airline will introduce the “Bluchip” loyalty program in September, with premium business class meals catered by Oberoi Hotels.
