President Droupadi Murmu arrived in New Zealand on Wednesday, marking the second leg of her three-nation tour. She will meet with Governor-General Dame Cindy Kiro, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, and other senior ministers to further enhance India-New Zealand relations. Her visit follows a state visit to Fiji, where she engaged in extensive discussions with Fiji’s top leaders to reinforce historic ties.

Murmu was warmly received by Todd McClay, Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry, Hunting and Fishing, and Associate Foreign Affairs. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted the cordial welcome in a post on X, highlighting the presence of McClay and High Commissioner Neeta Bhushan in Auckland. McClay expressed his honor in welcoming President Murmu, emphasizing the visit’s significance in deepening bilateral relationships and strengthening cultural connections.

In Auckland, President Murmu will also attend a community reception, reflecting the strong people-to-people ties between India and New Zealand. This visit is a part of ongoing efforts to boost bilateral cooperation across various sectors. Murmu’s engagements in New Zealand aim to build upon the discussions held in Fiji and advance the partnership between the two nations.

President Murmu’s arrival in New Zealand underscores the importance of diplomatic engagements in fostering international relationships. By meeting with top leaders and attending community events, she aims to strengthen the bond between India and New Zealand.
