India is poised to mark a significant leap in maritime defense with the planned commissioning of INS Varsha, a cutting-edge naval base under construction near Rambilli in Andhra Pradesh. Located roughly 50 kilometers from Visakhapatnam, home to the Eastern Naval Command, INS Varsha spans approximately 20 square kilometers. This unique infrastructure is intended to reduce exposure to satellite surveillance, offering an operational advantage during both peacetime surveillance and conflict mobilization.
