Now, according to an industry insider exclusively sharing details with India Today, the film’s production schedule remains on track, with filming set to commence in 2025. Although pre-production activities have commenced, the actual filming will commence next year, as per the insider.
“Don 3 was always slated to begin filming in 2025. The preparation has been meticulously planned,” the source stated. Earlier, Farhan Akhtar had expressed his desire to announce the film preemptively to quell unwarranted speculations and prevent disappointment among fans. Recent rumors of Ranveer Singh taking an extended paternity leave had raised concerns regarding the future of the film. Director Farhan Akhtar addressed these concerns in an interview with India Today, mentioning his upcoming acting project starting in July, which added to the uncertainties surrounding ‘Don 3’.
Helmed by Farhan Akhtar, ‘Don 3′ promises to deliver another high-octane installment. While the original film starred Amitabh Bachchan, the preceding two films in the Excel Productions franchise featured Shah Rukh Khan in the titular role. Despite the makers’ confidence in Ranveer’s ability to carry the legacy forward, a segment of the audience expressed reservations.

Farhan Akhtar announced her participation on social media last month, stating, “Welcome to the Don universe Kiara Advani…#Don3.” In response, she expressed her excitement, saying, “Thrilled to be part of the iconic Don franchise and collaborating with this incredible team! Grateful for your love and support as we embark on this exhilarating journey together.” The film’s release date is yet to be unveiled.
