How to Make Coconut Moong Soup

Step 1: Cook the Dal

  • Wash and soak yellow moong dal for 15–20 minutes.
  • Boil with turmeric and a pinch of salt until soft and mushy. Blend to a smooth consistency.

Step 2: Prepare the Tempering

  • Heat oil/ghee in a pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chopped ginger, green chilli, and curry leaves. Let them sizzle for a few seconds.

Step 3: Combine and Simmer

  • Add the blended dal to the tempering. Mix in coconut milk and adjust consistency with water.
  • Add salt and pepper. Let it simmer for 5–6 minutes on low flame.

Step 4: Garnish and Serve

  • Pour into soup bowls, garnish with fresh coriander, and serve hot.
