Plot: The Jolly Chase Begins
When billionaire Ranjeet passes away on his 100th birthday, he leaves behind a mysterious will worth 69 billion pounds. But to everyone’s shock, the heir — named Jolly — has no face or identity. Suddenly, three men (Akshay Kumar as Julius, Riteish Deshmukh as Jalabuddin, and Abhishek Bachchan as Jalbhushan) each claim to be the rightful Jolly. What follows is a rollercoaster journey of mistaken identities, unexpected twists, and a murder on the cruise ship that changes everything. Who is the real Jolly? And who’s behind the murder?
Performance Highlights: Comic Timing With Star Power
Akshay Kumar proves again why he’s the king of commercial comedies. His charm, energy, and effortless comic timing anchor the film.
Riteish Deshmukh and Abhishek Bachchan add flavor with their playful presence and lively banter.
Johny Lever lights up the screen with his expressions and punchlines, while Sanjay Dutt, Nana Patekar, and Jackie Shroff deliver short but memorable cameos.
Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, and Nargis Fakhri add glamour and sparkle, though their roles are limited mostly to aesthetic appeal.
What Works Well
✅ High Entertainment Quotient – Light-hearted, quick-paced storytelling makes it a decent family watch.
✅ Lavish Visuals – A luxurious cruise setting, colorful costumes, and a peppy background score give the film visual appeal.
✅ Mystery Element – The whodunnit storyline keeps the audience guessing till the end.
✅ Franchise Nostalgia – Long-time fans will enjoy callbacks, returning characters, and familiar chaos.
What Misses the Mark
While the film’s tone is meant to be over-the-top and fun, certain scenes come off as unnecessarily violent and jarring. The fight sequences involving birds and monkeys, meant to be funny, end up being bizarre and fail to land any laughs. The graphic slapstick violence not only feels out of place in a comedy but might also be off-putting to younger viewers.
The script could have relied more on clever writing and situational comedy instead of chaotic, physical humour that borders on the absurd.

Direction & Music
Director Tarun Mansukhani introduces a refreshing mystery angle to the usual Housefull formula and handles the two-climax concept fairly well. However, some scenes stray far from comic timing and rely heavily on loud gags. The music, contributed by multiple composers, is catchy, with foot-tapping numbers and vibrant visuals that boost the film’s mood.
Audience Verdict: Entertaining, But Not Without Flaws
Housefull 5 delivers on its core promise — a star-studded, chaotic, and visually rich comedy. The multiple characters, confusing identities, and evolving mystery ensure the momentum never drops. But the unnecessary focus on exaggerated violence in some parts dilutes the film’s comic potential.
Final Verdict: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5 Stars)
A loud, glittery, and fast-paced entertainer that will please fans of the Housefull franchise. Despite its flaws — especially some forced slapstick violence — the film’s cast, setting, and intrigue make it a lighthearted escape for the weekend. The two different climaxes are a fun bonus if you’re up for a rewatch.
Should You Watch It?
Watch it if you’re in the mood for glossy Bollywood fun and ensemble chaos. But if you’re hoping for intelligent comedy or are sensitive to unnecessary slapstick violence, you may want to skip this cruise.
