SCAM ALERT FOR NRIs!
Spammers are getting smarter and targeting NRIs with a terrifying new scam! Here’s how it works:
The Setup:
You get a call from someone claiming to be a police officer. They say your passport was used at an airport or border for illegal activities.
The Video Call Trap:
They insist on a video call to make it look official. You’ll see someone dressed as a police officer, with fake badges and a convincing setup.
The Fear Tactic:
They scare you by saying you’ll face legal action or lose your residency status (Green Card, Citizenship, etc.) unless you cooperate.
The Ask:
They pressure you to reveal confidential information like your Social Security Number, Green Card details, or passport information.
Stay Alert, Stay Safe!
- DO NOT share personal information over calls or video chats.
- Real police officers NEVER ask for sensitive details or payments over the phone.
- Verify their claims by contacting the official agency directly.
- Block and report such numbers immediately.
Share this with your family and friends to keep our community safe from these predators!
