At least 17 individuals lost their lives, and 26 others sustained injuries due to rain-related incidents in Afghanistan over the past day, as per the country’s National Disaster Management Authority. Heavy rains caused flash floods, landslides, and other calamities in various provinces like Parwan, Daykundi, Wardak, and Logar. The downpours have resulted in the destruction of 147 houses, 80 kilometers of roads washed away, and 582 acres of farmland flooded, along with other damages.

Floods have wreaked havoc in Afghanistan, affecting numerous areas and causing significant destruction. The National Disaster Management Authority highlighted the preliminary nature of the reported figures, emphasizing ongoing assessments to ascertain the full extent of the damage. The authority’s spokesperson, Hafiz Mohammad Yusuf Hammad, warned that the casualty count might change as more information is gathered from the affected regions.

Meteorological authorities in Afghanistan have issued alerts predicting more rainfall in the upcoming days, raising concerns about the heightened risk of additional flooding in vulnerable regions. The recent spate of heavy rains and floods has severely impacted various provinces, leading to casualties, property damage, and disruptions in daily life. The government and relevant agencies are working to address the aftermath of these natural disasters and provide assistance to those affected.
