A 21-year-old man from Kaisodi village in Sorab taluk, Shivamogga district, was found dead by suicide at his home. Identified as Rakesh, he had completed his graduation and was preparing for government job exams. Before his death, Rakesh left a WhatsApp message discussing the need for changes in the education system and parenting methods.
In his note, Rakesh highlighted the pressures faced by students and advocated for reforms in education. He emphasized the importance of recognizing children’s talents early and supporting them accordingly, rather than imposing uniform expectations. Rakesh referenced Kannada actor Yash’s life experiences shared on ‘Weekend with Ramesh’ and suggested incorporating such stories into school curricula for practical life lessons.
Expressing dissatisfaction with online mental guidance, Rakesh called for the removal of related content from WhatsApp platforms. He also cautioned against excessive pressure on children, urging parents and teachers to nurture individual abilities like Dronacharya did for Arjuna. Rakesh appealed to society to shift focus from monetary gains to encouraging children to pursue their interests and talents with dedication.
A case has been registered at Soraba police station, with ongoing investigations. The family is receiving counseling support during this difficult time.
