Actor Mohan Kapoor, known for his role as Yusuf Khan in Marvel’s ‘Miss Marvel’, discussed the professional disparities he encountered while filming the series. Kapoor described the work environment on the international set as “heartening” and “deeply disciplined”. During a conversation with filmmaker Pooja Bhatt on her podcast, Kapoor highlighted the notable differences he observed while working on ‘Miss Marvel’, particularly in the United States. He expressed admiration for the sight of women handling physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy equipment on set. Kapoor recalled a supermarket incident during the Covid period where a staff member declined to assist beyond his assigned duties, drawing a parallel to the structured work environment on the filming floor. He noted that due to Covid restrictions, the crew operated efficiently like a “well-oiled machine”, emphasizing the importance of punctuality and professionalism. Kapoor recounted an incident where a camera issue caused a one-hour delay on the first day of shooting, which was promptly documented by the executive producer for accountability. Reflecting on the lack of accountability in various sectors in India, Kapoor expressed his concerns. ‘Miss Marvel’ is the seventh television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, centered around Kamala Khan, a teenage fan of the Avengers who discovers her own superpowers. The series features a diverse cast including Iman Vellani, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Zenobia Shroff, and others. Despite being the most experienced actor on set, Kapoor sought feedback from younger co-stars, highlighting the importance of collaboration and cultural nuances in acting. Kapoor also shared his excitement for appearing in multiple Marvel franchises, describing the experience as surreal and fulfilling his dreams beyond expectations.
