The ‘Unnat Krishi Mela,’ a three-day event promoting technology-driven farming and long-term agricultural planning, has started in Raisen district, Madhya Pradesh. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, inaugurated the national-level agriculture event at Dussehra Maidan in Raisen. The festival aims to bring together farmers, scientists, policymakers, and agri-industry stakeholders for discussions on enhancing productivity and income.
The event, scheduled from April 11 to 13, will provide farmers with a comprehensive roadmap from ‘lab to field’ and ‘seed to market.’ Union Agriculture Minister Chouhan described the event as a unique agricultural school offering 20 sessions on various farming topics and live demonstrations of modern equipment like happy seeders and advanced farm machinery. The fair boasts around 300 stalls showcasing agricultural solutions such as seed varieties, fertilizers, pesticides, and micro-irrigation systems.
Experts at the festival are conducting seminars and training sessions on crucial topics like soil health management, crop diversification, natural farming, and post-harvest technologies. Scientists from institutions like the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) are engaging directly with farmers to provide tailored solutions. The event also features attractions like a mobile soil testing laboratory, live models of integrated farming systems, and units for dairy, fisheries, poultry, and goat rearing.
The ‘Unnat Krishi Mela’ will conclude on April 13 in the presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. During the closing, a comprehensive agricultural roadmap for Raisen, Vidisha, Sehore, and neighboring regions will be unveiled. This roadmap is expected to outline strategies for crop diversification, water conservation, market linkages, and income enhancement, shaping the future of agricultural development in the area.
