Afghanistan Cricket Board officials recently met with newly appointed head coach Richard Pybus in Kabul. Pybus is set to lead a month-long skill development camp to prepare for the upcoming series against India in June. He took over as head coach from Jonathan Trott in February.
During the meeting, key technical department heads, including Domestic Cricket, International Cricket, the Selection Committee, and the High-Performance Center, discussed strategic objectives and long-term visions with Pybus. Both team captains, Hashmatullah Shahidi and Ibrahim Zadran, were also present. The focus was on planning the national team preparatory camp in Kabul.
Afghanistan’s tour of India will begin with a single Test match at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. This match will mark the venue’s first red-ball international game and only the second Test match between Afghanistan and India. Following the Test, a three-match ODI series is scheduled in Dharamsala, Lucknow, and Chennai on June 14, 17, and 20.
Discussions are underway between the Afghanistan Cricket Board and the BCCI regarding a potential three-match T20I series to be hosted by Afghanistan in the UAE in 2026.
