In a surprising development during the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, AIADMK candidate Leema Rose has been revealed as the wealthiest contestant in the state, with a total family wealth of Rs 5,863 crore as per her nomination affidavit. Contesting from the Lalgudi constituency in Tiruchirappalli district, she disclosed movable assets worth Rs 139 crore and immovable assets valued at Rs 910 crore in her name. This places her at the top among high-net-worth candidates in the elections, shedding light on the substantial wealth of certain political contenders.
Her husband, Martin, a businessman, significantly contributes to the family’s wealth, with movable assets worth Rs 3,262 crore and immovable assets totaling Rs 887 crore. Their son, Jose Tyson Martin, also holds considerable assets, including Rs 225 crore in movable assets and Rs 439 crore in immovable properties. The family’s income details in the affidavit show that Leema Rose earned Rs 9.82 crore in the previous financial year, while her husband reported an income of Rs 11.39 crore.
In terms of liquid cash, Leema Rose has Rs 5 lakh on hand, while her husband possesses Rs 56 lakh. The declaration also outlines their ownership of precious metals and gemstones, with Leema Rose having 19,233 grams of gold, 1,31,813 grams of silver, 1,217 carats of diamonds, and 32 grams of platinum. Her husband owns 281 grams of gold and 20,974 grams of silver, and their son holds 326 grams of gold and 60,380 grams of silver, including jewelry.
Regarding her personal background, Leema Rose mentioned that she completed education up to Class 6 at a government school in Thiruvana. She also disclosed the existence of four pending criminal cases against her. These financial disclosures, part of the mandatory election process, provide detailed insights into the financial status of candidates and are likely to attract public attention as campaigning gains momentum in Tamil Nadu.
