The All India Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee has overturned the red card given to Muthu Irulandi Mayakkannan from NorthEast United FC during their recent ISL match against Odisha FC. The red card was initially issued during NorthEast United’s 1-4 loss to Odisha FC on March 20.
In a statement released by ISL, it was confirmed that Mayakkannan is now cleared to play in the upcoming fixture against SC Delhi. Odisha FC secured a convincing victory in the match, with Rahul KP scoring two goals. The game saw an early lead for Odisha FC, followed by a swift response from NorthEast United to level the score.
The match took a turn when Mayakkannan received a red card in the 36th minute, leaving NorthEast United with 10 players on the field. Despite efforts from NorthEast United, including late attempts to narrow the score gap, Odisha FC emerged victorious with a 4-1 win. With the red card now overturned, NorthEast United looks forward to having Mayakkannan back for their next ISL match.
