Air India Express is set to expand its network to Dhaka starting September 3, 2024. The airline will launch six weekly flights connecting Dhaka to Kolkata and Chennai. This expansion aims to enhance regional connectivity and stimulate economic growth between India and Bangladesh.
Flights from Kolkata to Dhaka will depart at 11:55 AM and arrive at 1:30 PM, while return flights will leave Dhaka at 11:10 PM and reach Kolkata at 11:45 PM. Flights between Chennai and Dhaka will depart at 7:00 PM and arrive at 10:10 PM, with return flights leaving Dhaka at 2:30 PM and arriving in Chennai at 4:50 PM. These services will operate from Tuesday to Sunday each week.
Aloke Singh, Managing Director of Air India Express, emphasized that these new routes are a significant addition to the airline’s connectivity across the Indian sub-continent. He noted that the flights would not only enhance travel experiences but also support trade, tourism, and medical travel between the two countries. Additionally, these flights will offer connections to the Gulf region and Air India’s long-haul international flights.
With the new flights, passengers from various Indian cities, including Bagdogra, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, will have one-stop access to Dhaka. Conversely, travelers from Dhaka will have easy connections to these Indian cities via Kolkata or Chennai.
