Air India has unveiled plans to commence direct flights between Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport and London’s Gatwick International Airport, beginning August 18, 2024. This initiative marks Bengaluru as the fifth Indian city with direct Air India flights to London, operating five return trips weekly, thereby bolstering the airline’s UK market presence. The route will be serviced by Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, offering 18 lie-flat beds in business class and 238 seats in economy.
Flight AI 177 will depart Bengaluru at 13:05 IST and arrive in London at 19:05 GMT on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, with the return flight AI 178 departing London at 20:35 GMT and landing in Bengaluru at 10:50 IST the following day. Bookings opened to the public on June 7, 2024.
With this addition, Bengaluru becomes the only Indian city offering direct flights to both Heathrow and Gatwick airports in London. Air India currently operates flights to Gatwick from Kochi, Goa, Amritsar, and Ahmedabad, alongside extensive services to Heathrow.
London, renowned for its historical landmarks and cultural attractions like the Tower of London and Buckingham Palace, remains a coveted destination for global travelers. Bengaluru, known as the Silicon Valley of India, boasts attractions such as Cubbon Park and Bengaluru Palace, making it a major hub for business and leisure alike.
