Air India announced that its Airbus A350-900 will operate on the Delhi-New York and Delhi-Newark routes starting November 1, 2024, and January 2, 2025, respectively. This deployment aims to enhance the passenger experience on these key routes.

The A350 will introduce Air India’s Premium Economy class on these flights, featuring 24 wide seats in a 2-4-2 configuration, offering extra legroom and other enhancements. Additionally, the aircraft includes 28 private suites in Business class with full-flat beds in a 1-2-1 configuration and 264 Economy seats in a 3-4-3 layout, all equipped with the latest Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system.

CEO Campbell Wilson expressed optimism about the positive feedback from the domestic deployment of A350s. He emphasized that this move is a significant step forward for Air India’s US operations, reflecting their commitment to continuous improvement. The new seats, entertainment systems, and service offerings are designed to provide a world-class flying experience.

With the introduction of the A350, 60% of Air India’s US flights will feature new or upgraded cabin interiors. The airline also operates Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on Mumbai-New York JFK and Newark routes, offering First, Business, and Economy class options with updated in-flight entertainment systems.

Air India currently flies to five US destinations: New York JFK, Newark, Washington DC, Chicago, and San Francisco, with 51 weekly flights. Since rejoining the Tata Group in January 2022, Air India has expanded its domestic and international network extensively.
