All India Muslim Jamaat President Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi expressed appreciation for recent comments made by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat while also highlighting issues affecting the Muslim community in India. Razvi stated that Bhagwat’s support for having three children has bolstered the Muslim community’s stance, emphasizing that the decision to have children is a divine blessing beyond scrutiny. He urged those critical of Muslims with multiple children to heed Bhagwat’s words.
Razvi addressed the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), asserting that the Constitution’s guidelines on the UCC are transparent and fair. He emphasized that the UCC’s implementation requires public consensus as outlined in the Constitution, citing an example from Uttarakhand where the UCC was allegedly enforced without due consultation with marginalized groups, violating constitutional norms. Razvi warned against unilateral lawmaking that undermines democratic principles.
Critiquing Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Razvi accused him of propagating anti-Muslim sentiments and discriminatory rhetoric. He condemned Sarma’s alleged attempts to economically marginalize Muslims, citing a controversial statement where Sarma suggested underpaying a rickshaw puller from the community. Razvi criticized such divisive remarks for inciting animosity and called for judicial intervention to address the issue.
Razvi further criticized Sarma for disregarding Bhagwat’s acknowledgment of the importance of Muslims in India and instead promoting divisive rhetoric. He demanded judicial intervention to counter Sarma’s inflammatory statements, emphasizing the need to uphold democratic values and prevent the erosion of democracy in the country.
