Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the inauguration of the new Prime Minister’s Office ‘Seva Teerth’ by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a significant move towards prioritizing public service in Indian democracy. The ‘Seva Teerth’ complex, which includes the Prime Minister’s Office, National Security Council Secretariat, and the Cabinet Secretariat, was unveiled by PM Modi in the presence of various Union Ministers and dignitaries. Situated close to the iconic South Block building, the new PMO office is envisioned to centralize governance and enhance administrative efficiency.
The newly constructed ‘Seva Teerth’ and ‘Kartavya Bhavan’ complexes were dedicated to the people of India by PM Modi, emphasizing a shift towards citizen-centric governance and national progress. PM Modi highlighted the contrast between the colonial-era buildings on Raisina Hills, designed for dominance, and the new structures symbolizing humility and people-centric governance. The modern facilities are aimed at fulfilling the aspirations of the vast Indian population, marking a departure from the colonial past.
Reflecting on history, PM Modi underscored how the new complexes signify a break from the colonial legacy of buildings like South Block and North Block, which were symbols of British authority over India. In contrast, ‘Seva Teerth’ represents a connection to the people and a departure from the aloofness associated with colonial architecture. The focus is on serving the 1.4 billion citizens of India, aligning with the ethos of humility and inclusivity.
