Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Bihar for three days starting Wednesday to assess security measures, administrative readiness, and ongoing development projects in the state’s border regions, focusing on areas along the India-Nepal border. Officials from the Union Home Ministry will engage with state authorities to discuss demographic changes in the Seemanchal region and strategies to tackle them.
The visit is significant in light of concerns over population imbalances in certain parts of the country, as highlighted by the government. Shah’s itinerary includes a review meeting in Kishanganj on the first day, followed by visits to Araria and discussions with police and district officials on border-related issues. The trip aims to strengthen border security, monitor development schemes, and enhance administrative cooperation in sensitive districts.
Shah’s tour will also feature engagements under the Vibrant Villages program, emphasizing the importance of the Seemanchal region. This initiative follows the ‘Naxal-Mukt Bharat’ campaign, with a specific focus on ensuring Seemanchal is free from infiltrators. The Home Minister has previously visited the region multiple times and during the Bihar Assembly elections, he vowed to prevent the formation of illegal immigrant vote banks.
Authorities have made logistical and security arrangements for the visit to ensure its success. Shah’s discussions with officials will cover various border district issues before his departure to New Delhi, marking a crucial step in addressing security challenges and promoting development in the region.
