Union Home Minister Amit Shah, at an election rally, promised to punish those who have exploited the people of West Bengal over the past 15 years once the BJP assumes power following the state’s Assembly polls. Shah emphasized that individuals involved in corrupt practices, including ‘cut-money syndicates,’ will face consequences, with a pledge to root out those responsible for violence against BJP supporters. He further stated that upon the BJP’s victory, the group associated with the ruling party will be held accountable for their actions.
During the event, Shah dismissed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s ambition to position her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, as the next Chief Minister of West Bengal, asserting that a BJP candidate, native to the state and fluent in Bengali, will assume the role. Additionally, he accused the Trinamool Congress and Banerjee of harboring illegal immigrants, highlighting the BJP’s commitment to identifying and repatriating such individuals to uphold national security.
Shah is scheduled to address another rally in Raniganj, West Burdwan district, later in the day, followed by a roadshow and an organizational meeting in Durgapur, within the same district.
