Megastar Amitabh Bachchan praised India’s Under-19 cricket team for securing the World Cup victory, hailing it as a proud moment for the nation. Amitabh expressed his admiration on X, formerly known as Twitter, commending the young team’s exceptional performance. He highlighted India’s success in various cricket formats, emphasizing the country’s status as world champions in men’s, women’s, and blind cricket.
On Friday, India defeated England by 100 runs to clinch the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup final at the Harare Sports Club, securing their sixth U19 World Cup title. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s remarkable century, a brutal 175 off 80 balls with 15 fours and as many sixes, played a pivotal role in India’s victory, setting a new record for the highest individual score in the competition’s finals.
Captain Ayush Mhatre’s 53 and wicketkeeper Abhigyan Kundu’s 40 also contributed significantly as India posted a formidable total of 411/9. Despite a strong start by England in their reply, a collapse in the middle order proved costly, with Caleb Falconer’s impressive 115 in vain as India secured their sixth ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup triumph.
Amitabh Bachchan, in a separate development, recently shared a reflective message on life, struggle, and silence, drawing parallels between the thoughts of his father, the late poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, and renowned Urdu poet Firaq Gorakhpuri.
