India’s top female player, Anahat Singh, has progressed to the second round of the Sprott Tournament of Champions, a PSA Platinum event in New York. Anahat, ranked 31st globally, secured victory over England’s Lucy Turmel with a scoreline of 11-3, 11-6, 9-11, 13-11 and is set to face Japanese sixth seed Satomi Watanabe next.

On the other hand, Abhay Singh, the 29th ranked male player, faced a defeat in a closely contested five-set match against Spain’s Iker Pajares. The match concluded with scores of 4-11, 11-4, 7-11, 11-3, 3-11.

Anahat recently participated in the women’s Under-19 final of the British Junior Open squash tournament, where she narrowly lost to French second seed Lauren Baltayan in a fiercely competitive match.
