The Andhra Pradesh government has suspended Assistant Commissioner Kalingiri Shanti from the Endowments Department after her arrest in a disproportionate assets case. Shanti was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on April 7 following raids that revealed assets worth Rs 1.37 crore, exceeding her known income sources.
Commissioner K. Ramchandramohan issued the orders for Shanti’s suspension, in accordance with government rules that mandate suspension of employees detained for over 48 hours on criminal charges. The ACB’s searches in various locations uncovered incriminating documents and assets, including a residential flat, gold ornaments, silver articles, cash, and vehicles.
Shanti, who had previously been suspended in 2024 over irregularities, faced a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The Endowments Department had conducted a departmental inquiry into the allegations against Shanti, leading to her recent suspension and subsequent arrest.
