Anup Soni expressed gratitude after his short film “Holy Curse” failed to secure a spot on this year’s Oscars shortlist. Taking to Instagram, he shared stills from the film and highlighted the significance of the journey alongside the outcome.
Directed by Snigdha Kapoor, “Holy Curse” revolves around 11-year-old Radha’s struggle with gender identity during a visit to India, where family rituals are believed to counter an ancestral curse affecting Radha’s mindset. The film features Shardul Bharadwaj, Suhas Deshpande, and Adithi Kalkunte.
Anup Soni, known for his roles in TV serials like “Sea Hawks” and “Saaya,” ventured into cinema with films like “Kharaashein: Scars From Riots” and “Hathyar.” Despite his foray into movies, he returned to television with projects such as “CID: Special Bureau” and “Crime Patrol.”
Recently, Anup appeared in the series “Saare Jahan Se Accha,” portraying an Indian spy pitted against his Pakistani counterpart in a battle of intelligence to thwart a nuclear program. Additionally, he made a cameo in the film “The Great Shamsuddin Family,” directed by Anusha Rizvi and featuring Kritika Kamra, Shreya Dhanwanthary, and others.
