Veteran actor Anupam Kher has shared his thoughts on the controversy surrounding the Dhurandhar movie series being criticized as “propaganda.” Kher, speaking at a recent event, urged audiences and critics to focus on appreciating cinema rather than condemning it. He dismissed the labeling of the films as propaganda, emphasizing that too much attention is being given to such claims.
Kher highlighted that a film’s success is determined by the audience’s response, not by external narratives. He called for acknowledging films that have connected with viewers rather than engaging with detractors. The actor emphasized celebrating the achievements of movies like The Kashmir Files and Dhurandhar, stating that audiences choose to watch films based on their preferences.
Amid ongoing discussions in the film industry regarding the intentions behind Dhurandhar, Kher reiterated that audiences have the autonomy to make informed decisions. He expressed confidence in the public’s discernment, suggesting that box office success reflects genuine audience interest. Filmmaker Aditya Dhar, the director of Dhurandhar, has also received praise for the film’s strong reception.
The Dhurandhar franchise, starring actors like Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, and R. Madhavan, has garnered positive feedback from viewers. The sequel, “Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge,” has further expanded on the success of the original installment. Released in December, the first film was followed by Dhurandhar 2 in March, featuring a talented cast including Akshaye Khanna and Rakesh Bedi.
