Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal will be heading discussions on enhancing access to justice through technology-based legal services at a workshop in Srinagar. The Department of Justice is organizing the Regional Event-cum-Workshop of 2026 as part of the Tele-Law initiative called Designing Innovative Solutions for Holistic Access to Justice (DISHA). This initiative falls under the Access to Justice division of the Ministry of Law and Justice.
The workshop, scheduled to take place at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), aims to bolster access to justice through technology-driven legal services. The event will kick off with the collective rendition of India’s National Song, “Vande Mataram,” in honor of its 150 years and its significant role in India’s history. The workshop will also shed light on the outreach and implementation strategies of the ‘DISHA Scheme’ by the Department of Justice (DoJ) to enhance legal literacy and justice accessibility nationwide.
A segment of the event, titled “DISHA Yojana ke Aayaam: Sugam evam Sulabh Nyaya tak Pahuch,” will showcase the scheme’s endeavors in promoting legal awareness through community outreach programs, digital campaigns, and collaborations with educational institutions and civil society organizations. It will emphasize the scheme’s special focus on reaching out to marginalized and vulnerable communities through simplified and technology-driven platforms. Additionally, the event will feature the presence and initiatives of the DISHA Scheme in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting its contributions to legal awareness and justice accessibility in the Union Territory.
One of the event highlights will be the acknowledgment of achievers associated with the DISHA Scheme by the Department of Justice (DoJ) for their significant roles in advancing legal literacy and enhancing access to justice. The ceremony will recognize individuals and institutions that have furthered the scheme’s objectives through dedicated outreach and community engagement efforts. Furthermore, the event will witness the launch of DISHA’s annual e-calendar, serving as a structured guide to the Department of Justice’s key activities, campaigns, and awareness programs throughout the year.
The workshop will be graced by the presence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Chief Justice Arun Palli of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, and around 800 other participants.
