As the community mourns the loss of a Noida software engineer who tragically died in a car accident, a builder cum developer has been arrested by the Knowledge Park police station officials for suspected criminal negligence. The arrest follows an FIR filed against two real estate developers after the engineer’s fatal accident in Sector 150, Noida. The 27-year-old engineer, Yuvraj Mehta, lost his life when his car veered off the road into a water-filled pit while navigating through dense fog on his way back from work in Gurugram.
The arrested individual, Abhay Kumar, who is the director of Wiztown Planning Private Limited, is under scrutiny for his alleged negligence at the construction site where the incident occurred. Authorities are expected to present him before a court for further interrogation. Reports also indicate that the builder has significant outstanding dues to the Noida Authority, prompting a deeper investigation into his background.
Following the tragic incident on January 17, where Mehta’s vehicle crashed through a drainage wall into a water-filled ditch, questions have been raised about the lack of safety measures at the commercial site. Despite a similar incident occurring just two weeks prior, there were no warning signs or barricades in place to prevent accidents. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has ordered a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the circumstances surrounding the engineer’s death and to hold accountable those responsible for the alleged negligence and apathy.
Yuvraj Mehta’s autopsy results revealed that he succumbed to asphyxiation and subsequent cardiac arrest. The incident has sparked outrage among family members and residents, highlighting the need for stricter safety regulations at construction sites to prevent such tragedies in the future.
