Arunachal Pradesh’s Nedi Ngi secured the women’s 5000m gold at the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026. Maharashtra dominated the men’s category with Govind Padekar and Suraj Mashi clinching gold and silver respectively in the 5000m event. The evening session was canceled due to unseasonal rains on the opening day of athletics competitions.
Nedi Ngi, expressing joy after her victory, revealed her comeback after focusing on academics. She aims to join the National Camp and represent India in major events following her graduation. Arunachal Pradesh now holds the third position in the medals tally with six golds, one silver, and two bronzes.
Karnataka strengthened its lead in the overall standings with two gold medals in wrestling. Rohan Doddamani secured Karnataka’s first gold outside swimming by defeating Dinesh Solanki in the 60kg Greco Roman final. Manisha added another gold with a hard-fought victory over Muskam from Himachal Pradesh. Karnataka now boasts 17 gold, six silver, and five bronze medals.
Bihar’s Mulayam Kharwar claimed the state’s first gold by defeating Rakesh Meena in the men’s 65kg freestyle final. Odisha and Mizoram advanced to the final clash at the international hockey stadium in Raipur. Odisha triumphed over Madhya Pradesh 8-0, while Mizoram secured a 3-2 victory against Jharkhand in the semi-finals.
