Anand Bhosle, the son of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, has informed the public that the final respects for his mother will take place at her residence in Lower Parel. The opportunity to pay homage will be available at 11:00 am at Casa Grande, Lower Parel, where she resided, with the last rites scheduled for 4 pm at Shivaji Park.
Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle’s elder sister and a Bharat Ratna awardee, was cremated at Shivaji Park in 2022. Asha Bhosle, who passed away at the age of 93 in Mumbai, was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday. The Culture Minister of Maharashtra, Ashish Shelar, announced her demise outside the hospital, confirming that her final rites will be conducted at Shivaji Park on Monday at 4:00 pm.
Asha Bhosle, a highly influential singer, began her playback singing career with the 1943 Marathi drama ‘Majha Bal’. Renowned for songs like ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko’ and ‘Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani’, she has sung in over 20 languages. With a repertoire of nearly 12,000 songs, she collaborated with esteemed music composers such as RD Burman, OP Nayyar, and AR Rahman, receiving accolades including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
