The Asian American Unity Coalition (AAUC) is set to host the 2024 Asian American Unity Summit on September 19-20 at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. This significant event will feature a White House briefing and an interactive session focused on Asian American issues, alongside key meetings with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI. A full day of Congressional meetings on Capitol Hill is also planned.

The Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO), co-hosting the summit, has announced its intent to advocate for legislation addressing the Green Card backlog in legal immigration.

In addition to these pivotal discussions, the summit will honor individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the community. Nominations are currently open for several prestigious awards, including the Dilip Singh Saund Award for Political Leadership, the Norman Mineta Award for Public Service, the Outstanding Community Service Award (for both individuals and organizations), and the Asian American Philanthropist of the Year (for both individuals and organizations).

This year introduces a new accolade—the President’s Award for Young Asian American Person of the Year—targeting young professionals and entrepreneurs who have made notable achievements in their fields or contributed to social and community service.

Nominations are open until August 25, with self-nominations encouraged.
