Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma pledged to provide two free LPG cylinders each year to beneficiaries during election rallies in Upper Assam. The distribution will occur during festive seasons like Bihu and Durga Puja, supplementing existing welfare aid such as free essential commodities like rice, pulses, salt, sugar, and tea.
Sarma emphasized that this initiative aims to reduce financial strain on households and ensure access to clean cooking fuel. He expressed the government’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life for every family through targeted welfare programs. Confident in the BJP-led alliance’s electoral prospects, Sarma dismissed the Opposition’s impact and anticipated a significant victory without specifying seat numbers.
The Chief Minister criticized the Congress for paying tea garden workers Rs 130 daily wages, contrasting it with the BJP government’s accomplishment of raising wages to Rs 280 over the past five years. Additionally, Sarma mentioned discussions in Pakistani media concerning Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi, calling for clarification on the matter.
Sarma also commented on Raijor Dal MLA Akhil Gogoi, labeling him as the “biggest entertainer” in the Assembly and finding his social media presence intriguing. As campaigning intensifies, Sarma urged voters to support the BJP for continued progress and welfare programs throughout Assam.
