The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) expressed gratitude to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for hosting three Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 matches at the Barsapara Stadium. ACA president Taranga Gogoi and secretary Sanatan Das appreciated the opportunity provided by BCCI for organizing the matches, which were part of the Rajasthan Royals’ home fixtures. The ACA highlighted the significance of hosting these matches in promoting cricket in the region.
The ACA also thanked Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for his support during the matches despite his election-related commitments. Additionally, the association acknowledged BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia for his consistent encouragement towards the development of cricket in Assam. Guwahati Police Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahanta was recognized for ensuring smooth arrangements during the matches, along with the coordinated support of various government departments.
Furthermore, the ACA praised the efforts of the curators and groundsmen, referring to them as the ‘true unsung heroes’ for their dedication in maintaining the playing surface to required standards amidst challenges. The association expressed gratitude to cricket fans for their enthusiastic support, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere during the matches. Rajasthan Royals, who won all three matches at Barsapara Stadium, will now move their home games to Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
